Food

Food plays a big part in all of our retreats: it is around a table that we get to know each other, share stories, create a community.

In order to foster this sense of sharing and community, Topos Retreat employs its own resident chef and pastry chef: Manolis Melissaris of The Lonely Olive (who, incidentally, is also a novelist) prepares all our breakfasts and dinners, which are served on the balcony of the main retreat house. Zaphiro Neophytou, aka Thursday Pastry, produces freshly-made cakes, pastries, snacks, and desserts daily.

Vasa itself has much to offer by way of food. The village features three tavernas (Pyrkos, Palati, and Ariadni), as well as three coffeeshops and a bakery that produces a local type of bread made with the addition of chickpea flour (arkaténa).

In order to support the local village economy, we have partnered with the village tavernas: Pyrkos and Palati cook our lunches on a rotational basis, while Ariadni contributes with a meze-style lunch or dinner, depending on the retreat.

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available every day. All retreat attendees can state their preference, or any food allergies, when booking.

Vasa is one of the many wine-producing villages of the Limassol and Paphos districts, and has a long tradition of wine-making using local varieties of vine. At Topos Retreat, we offer locally produced wine with dinner. Water and soft drinks are available at lunchtime. All other alcoholic drinks must be bought separately.
