WOMEN’S WRITING RETREAT
with
Join us this June in beautiful Vasa for a women’s only writing retreat with Topos Retreat’s director, Nicoletta Demetriou. The retreat is particularly (though not exclusively) aimed at women who are either at the early stages of their writing journey, or have returned to writing after a long break. Through group sessions and one-to-one tutorials, Nicoletta will share with participants practical, hands-on techniques on how to start writing, as well as how to maintain a writing routine that works for them.
Nicoletta (who has an MA in Life Writing from UEA and a PhD in Ethnomusicology from SOAS) was Tutor in Narrative Non-Fiction on the University of Oxford’s Master of Studies in Creative Writing from 2012 to 2019, as well as the course’s acting director in 2018. Since 2022 she has been teaching at The Writing Room, a creative writing workshop for adults in Nicosia. For the past fifteen years Nicoletta has coached dozens of writers in Cyprus, the UK, and the US, helping them reach their potential and get published.
Maximum number of participants: 12
Language of instruction: English
Registration deadline: 11 April 2025
* The only exception concerns the (optional) day-long excursion on 17 June.

The retreat begins and finishes on a Wednesday. We will begin with a welcome dinner on Wednesday evening (11 June), and finish with breakfast on the following Wednesday (18 June). Teaching will take place between Thursday, 12 June, and Monday, 16 June. On Tuesday, 17 June, there is an optional day-long excursion in Paphos.
There are approximately three hours of teaching/talks/tutorials each morning between Thursday and Monday. Afternoons are more flexible: there is dedicated writing time, and also opportunities for excursions in Vasa, the surrounding villages, and the beach. Taking part in all social activities of the retreat is entirely optional.
As is the case with all of our retreats, this is also very much a culinary retreat. Breakfast and dinner take place on the balcony of Oikia Roti (‘main retreat house’), and are prepared by our resident chef. Coffee, tea, cakes and snacks are prepared daily by our resident pastry chef.
One of Topos’s stated aims is to support the local economy, and to give back to the village in any way we can. We have therefore partnered with the three village tavernas for all our lunches, as well as for our final dinner.
Participants will receive a detailed retreat schedule ahead of time.
